Characteristics
Cypress has purifying, balancing and refreshing properties and therefore has an affinity to the base chakra. The spicy top notes with a sweet, woody undertone instills strength and wisdom by helping the flow of stagnant and subtle energies. Cypress is a wonderful oil to be used in maintaining a healthy circulation and reduces the hot flushes associated with menopause. When used in a bath, it can assist in regulating painful menstruation. The astringent and toning properties help to assist in reducing cellulite and relieving muscles that may be under constant pressure, such as the legs.

Cypress has anti-spasmodic properties and should be avoided during pregnancy.
